Tape dispensers, also known as tape dispenser guns, are commonly used in warehouse environments and production lines that require packing operations. They are also used by postal services and can be used in the home environment for example when moving house.

What is a tape dispenser?


A tape dispenser is a device used to load and cut sellotape with ease. They range in sizes and designs to suit the application, but they all provide a quick and easy solution to dispensing tape with minimal waste whilst saving time and effort, especially when packing large quantities. A sellotape dispenser can be fitted with a variety of sticky tapes such as clear tape, brown parcel tape, heavy duty tape, office tape and more.

What tape dispensers are there?


There is a range of tape dispensers available to suit a variety of applications such as:

• Desk tape dispenser - the most common sellotape dispenser, usually used in an office or at home, they tend to be smaller and compatible with standard sellotape and novelty adhesives. This type of dispenser can be weighted with sand and features non slip feet for ease of use on a desk.

• Aisle marking tape dispenser - a heavy duty tape dispenser used to mark out hazardous zones in warehouses and environments where moving vehicles are commonly present

• Handheld tape dispenser - commonly used for packing parcels or boxes for distribution

How to load a tape roll on a dispenser?


Almost all tape dispensers allow for the adhesive tape to be replaced once it has run out. On a handheld tape dispenser gun, this is usually done by detaching the empty reel from the wheel and replacing it with a new one. Once in place, the packaging tape is fed through the roller on the device with the sticky side face down and pulled up past the guard. If loaded correctly the tape will be neatly cut once in contact with the blade.
